An Arab man was arrested just 20 minutes after he stabbed a cab driver in Dubai.
Brigadier Ali Ghanem, director of the Muraqqabat police station, said the incident happened after the man took a taxi to travel from Ajman to Rigga Al Buteen area in Dubai. "He disagreed with the taxi driver about the trip fare of the trip and ran away from the driver who followed him inside one of the buildings.
"While the man used the elevator, the driver raced through the stairs until they met face-to-face. The offender attacked the driver with a knife and stabbed him multiple times," said Ghanem.
"Police from Muraqqabat station arrived at the location within minutes after the driver reported the incident. They spotted the man hiding in the electricity room of the building. The cabbie was taken to the hospital while the accused was referred to further legal procedures," he added.
Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police for criminal investigation affairs, said the quick response helped the speedy arrest - in just 20 minutes. He thanked the team for their efforts in arresting the accused and seizing the knife used to stab the victim.
