A gang of nine Asians attacked a police patrol and damaged cars after they were confronted by the cops for possessing alcoholic beverages in an industrial area in Sharjah.

When the operations room of the Sharjah Police was informed about the incident, a team swung into action, reached the spot and arrested the gang members.

The nine defendants were produced before the Sharjah Criminal Court. They faced charges of resisting a police patrol team by force and attacking them. They were also accused of destroying cars of rental offices and carrying alcoholic beverages with an aim to smuggle and sell them.

During the court hearing, the accused denied that they attacked the police patrol or endangered the life of the cops.

The trial was adjourned to July 15.
