The Chinese School Dubai will have a teacher-student ratio of 1:6, its principal has told Khaleej Times. Founding principal Yin Liping said 186 students have enrolled for Grades 1 to 5, while they have 37 teachers.
"This year, we are only welcoming Chinese students, but from the subsequent academic year we will try to incorporate international curricula as well and aim to have on board students of other nationalities," Liping said. "Most of our teachers are from Hangzhou No. 2 High School (a public secondary school in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China), while some teachers to teach subjects like English, Arabic and PE have been hired from Dubai."
The founding principal said the school will inherit the "tradition and advanced education concept" of Hangzhou No. 2 High School. "It will provide the children of overseas Chinese in Dubai with basic Chinese education of high-quality. Starting the new academic year, each class will be divided into two smaller classrooms with two dedicated teachers for each sub division.
"We have high technology equipment for temperature checks and other precautionary measures, and will comply with all KHDA safety regulations. We have a school clinic and dedicated doctor and nurse for any health-related issues."
