The Dubai Safari will close its doors to the public on May 15 as the attraction undergoes some "beautification works", it was announced on Saturday.
The park will welcome visitors again on October 1, following the completion of the embellishment programme scheduled to take place during the summer months.

"Anticipating an increasing demand for unique tourist offerings, the Dubai Safari is redesigning the customer experience to remain in line with shifting trends in the market and to take advantage of emerging technologies."
The upgrades seek to provide a better habitat for the animals, and a "more interactive and educational experience for the visitors". "We are confident that our landmark destination will help attract even higher numbers of tourists to Dubai once it reopens after the summer."
Spanning over 12.8 million sq ft, the Dubai Safari is home to more than 2,500 animals.

Earlier this year, Meraas signed an agreement with the Dubai Municipality to manage the Dubai Safari. The company appointed Parques Reunidos, a world-renowned operator of animal parks, to oversee the day-to-day running of the destination.
