Love yourself and whatever you wear, wear it with attitude, is nine-year-old Vidhi Karva's advice to the fashionistas.

Vidhi, a grade four student from Indus International School, Pune, India, launched her evening wear couture collection at the recently concluded Dubai World Fashion Week, which was held on December 17 and 18.

Her clothing line was a part of the International Kids/Teens Fashion Runway.

The event was organised by Vivz Fashion School, where she was introduced as the "youngest fashion designer of the world”.

Vidhi said she developed an interest in fashion, a couple of years ago when she started to observe her mother wearing designer outfits.

"I would convince her to let me style her my way," she said.

"And that's when I realised that I want to become a designer," she added.

With the help of her mother, she sketched the line, which was launched at the event. “It was my dream to be a designer, and right now I imagine the designs, and my mother helps with giving them shape on paper.”

This was her second visit to Dubai, but she was happy to have made her debut as a designer in the Middle East’s fashion hub.

"It was a big turning point for me and I received great feedback. Now, I will start to work on my next collection, and am excited to take the line to London and Milan as well," she said.

As for her future designs, she'd like to keep the focus on sustainable wear and also promote Indian fabrics.

She expressed her gratitude towards Vivz Fashion School's mentors Vivek Pawar and Arti Rai. "I always dreamt of being a part of their show, so am glad that I started my journey with them," she added.

Her favourite three fashion icons include pop star Hannah Montana, and actors Jennifer Aniston and Sonam Kapoor. The icons she'd love to dress up include the two actors and also Priyanka Chopra-Jonas. Whilst she has not undergone any formal fashion studies, so far, she has plans to learn about the craft professionally. "I will sign up for a course, but whatever I have learnt to date is via YouTube," she added.
