His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has wished a speedy recovery for his brother, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance.

Sheikh Mohammed took to Twitter to post: "My brother and my friend, may Allah heal you, may Allah protect you, may Allah bless you."

Social media was filled with well wishes and prayers for Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid from UAE leaders, citizens and residents.

Touching messages hailed the great service he has done for the nation and how he has supported young Emirati talents through the Hamdan bin Rashid Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance.

The Deputy Ruler of Dubai had returned to Dubai in September last year after a surgery abroad.
