Police have nearly concluded the trial phase testing new warning devices installed for pedestrian crossings throughout Abu Dhabi. The new "Hather" devices, which rely on artificial intelligence technology, will be installed in school areas and pedestrian-heavy crossings. Each device contains two screens, one for oncoming vehicles and the other for pedestrians, as well as two cameras. One camera will scan vehicle licence plates, and the other will allow for visual analysis. A central unit will monitor the pedestrian crossing itself as well as the surrounding area.
