UAE public holidays 2021: 5 long breaks this year

The UAE Cabinet on Saturday announced the list of official holidays for public and private sector employees for 2021 and 2022.

The country’s residents will enjoy five long breaks ranging from three to six days next year.

The longest break is expected to be during Eid Al Adha, when residents could get up to six days off, including the weekend. The official days off include Zul Hijjah 9 (Arafah Day); and Zul Hijjah 10 to 12 (Eid Al Adha). Dates are subject to the sighting of the moon.

>> Eid Al Fitr

The first long break will fall during Eid Al Fitr from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3, when residents could enjoy up to five days off. It is expected that the holy month of Ramadan will last for 30 days. The Eid Al Fitr break is likely to be observed from Tuesday, May 11, to Saturday, May 15, subject to moon sighting.

>> Eid Al Adha

The Eid Al Adha break is likely to be from Monday, July 19, to Thursday, July 22, followed by the two-day weekend.

>> Hijri New Year

The first three-day long weekend will start on the eve of the Islamic New year on Thursday, August 12.

>> Birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Another three-day weekend will run from Thursday, October 21, to Saturday, October 23.

>> Commemoration Day, National Day

The last break will run for four days from Wednesday, December 1, to Saturday, December 4, to mark the Commemoration Day and the UAE National Day.
