Heavy downpour on Sunday caused water-logging in major roads across the UAE, leaving thousands of motorists stuck in traffic jams for hours in the aftermath. However, residents were delighted as the UAE Municipalities sprung into action and roads were cleared in less than 24 hours.
A video on official Twitter account of Abu Dhabi City Municipality shows how the city bounced back to normalcy after the rainstorm on Sunday. The video shows municipality workers clearing uprooted trees and cleaning up walkways in less than 24 hours, and also bedecking the city in the run up to National Day celebration.
Officials at the municipalities of Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah said they were fully prepared to tackle any rain emergency and challenges caused by the unstable weather.
