A thief who stole a student's laptop is winning sympathy online after his apology email goes viral.    The thief apparently felt guilty after robbing the laptop when he discovered it belonged to a student. Hence, he went onto write an email to the student justifying his act due to his poverty.
Singer Steve Valentine from Birmingham shared the thief's email on Twitter sent to his flatmate whose laptop he stole, reported Mirror.uk. He wrote: 'So my flat mates laptop got stolen today, please pree what the thief sent him'. The thief wrote in the email: 'I am extremely poor and needed the money. I left your phone and wallet, so I hope that slightly makes up for something'.
Steve's tweet has now been shared over 28,000 times and received over 400 comments with several Twitter users expressing sympathy for the person who pilfered the computer. The thief goes on to write: 'I can see you are a university student. If there is any files on here such as university work on here that you need, let me know and I will send them to you here. Once again I am sorry'.
One Twitter user wrote: 'I actually like this thief, I need help', while several confessed they would be happy to let the thief keep it after reading his touching email. Another person wrote: 'This is the nicest thief I've ever seen'. But there were others who criticised the thief's act. 'Wow. I get it. And the email seems sweet. But damn you stole from a student. Students are broke too. And now they need to figure out a laptop. Or how to get their work done', a tweet read.
