The UAE has come a long way in just 47 years, a period that is arguably very small in the timeline of a nation. But what's interesting is the pace of growth and development here. From a humble refuelling station in the seventies to the modern metropolis of the 21st century, the UAE has defied expectations to emerge as a beacon of growth and development. It has turned into a thriving gateway for trade and connectivity with a superior economic outlook. What really makes it different from other countries in the region is the clear-eyed vision of the leadership and an industrious workforce that is willing to turn plans into reality. If the focus in the earlier decades was on infrastructural development, the present decade is witnessing its rise as a soft power. A country that has been at the forefront of helping and bringing change in the region. Initiatives to build a knowledge economy are being implemented and foundation is being laid for sectors that are crucial for the future growth. And it is not just about building blocks of wealth. Investments in space and technology, education, health, artificial intelligence, blockchain, smart technologies are fuelling change and inspiring the young. This year, the emirates became the first in the region to send a satellite designed and made in the UAE into space. It will soon send its first astronaut too in the outer world, a stellar achievement that makes it one among the handful of nations with a strategy for space.
The UAE wants to be the front runner of change and drive the next phase of growth. There's a larger vision for the region, a dream to see renaissance of Arab culture and influence. Initiatives like Arab Reading Challenge and One Million Arab Coders, are aimed at engaging the young and empowering them with the right skills and knowledge. The UAE's leading by example. Arguably it is the only nation where the expatriates are as proud as the nationals to be a part of this country, and live in harmony. Differences are celebrated here and commonalities enjoyed. As the seven emirates collectively work to advance the interests of the nation and the region, the UAE is fully equipped to navigate its way to a better future.
