In a bid to make health insurance compulsory, tourists visiting Oman will soon receive mandatory health insurance cover upon arrival.
The announcement comes in the wake of decision taken last year by Oman's Council of Ministers to make health insurance compulsory for all residents and citizens in the country in 2018.
To ease the process, Oman's Capital Market Authority (CMA) is working with several government entities, including the Ministry of Health and Royal Oman Police.
"As to the insurance for visitors entering Oman from the various entry points, CMA is working with the Royal Oman Police to set out appropriate methods for health insurance for visitors to ease [the process of] obtaining such insurance at the border checkpoints," an official at CMA was quoted as saying in Times of Oman.
Tourism is one of the prime focuses of the Sultanate's major expansion points as part of the Tanfeedh plans for economic diversification, according to the report.
