When Saowarak Charoen, 59, spotted a tail jutting out near an open cupboard under the kitchen sink in her home in Pathum Thani, Thailand, she could never have imagined the enormity of things that would follow.
Saowarak ran out and called the cops, thinking that it was a small snake. What appeared was a 17-ft-long python, which had almost swallowed Saowarak's pet cat 'Bobo'.
When three animal rescuers reached the place with two policemen and a reporter, they dragged the snake out and forced it to spit out the ginger tabby weighing 3kg.
It was a stomach-churning moment when the bloated body of the serpent - with a big bulge in its stomach - was twisted and moved to regurgitate Bobo. The furry creature's feet appeared first and then its jaws covered in slime.
A visibly shattered Saowarak - who has two other pet cats - said she has buried Bobo in the garden. "I get upset every time I think about poor Bobo and how he died," she was quoted as saying in a Mirror report.
The python was just over five metres long, the wildlife officers found out. It was released back into the wild.
