An Australian man got lucky recently when he unearthed a big gold nugget with a metal detector.
According to locals, the unidentified hobbyist was wandering around in Western Australia's gold fields, when he found a 1.4kg gold nugget.
A shop in Kalgoorlie shared pictures of the rock online, estimated to be worth $69,000 (Dh253,000), BBC reported.
About three-quarters of the gold mined in Australia is produced in and around the Kalgoorlie region.
The shop owner said the man found the piece on some saltbush flats - 18 inches below the surface.
"He walked into my shop and showed me the nugget in his hand with a big smile on my face - it was heavy," the shop owner told the BBC.
