The world's longest water slide is due to open in Malaysia this summer.
The 1,140 meters (3,740 feet) slide is currently is now under construction at Penang's ESCAPE Theme Park and looks set to smash the record for world's longest water slide.
Upon its expected completion by end July, the water slide will officially set the Guinness World Record for the world's longest water slide, smashing the previous record of 602 metres held by Action Park in New Jersey.
"Breaking the world record was never our intention," Sim Choo Kheng, CEO Sim Leisure Group which runs the Escape park, said in a statement.
''Our plan was to build a water slide which would enable visitors to view the whole park and we did not intend to break the world record,' he said.
'I'm overly concerned about the environment here so we tried our best to maintain the greenery by not chopping down the trees. We reckon the slide will be the main attraction when completed.''
According to the statement released by the park, the ride will last four minutes and will take visitors down a 230ft (70-metre) slope through jungle terrain and tree canopies before eventually crossing the main Teluk Bahang Road and into ESCAPE Waterplay on the opposite track of land.
The park is building a cable car to bring riders to the top of the slide.
