Situated in the east China's Jiangsu Province, Huaxi is known as the world's richest village. The village has all the facilities of a metropolitan city.

The earnings of its resident are about 40 times the average income of a farmer in China.

According to the Daily Mail, the average annual salary its residents is 122,600 yuan (£14,319/$17,717). The village has 72-storey skyscraper which the village built with three billion yuan (£350 millon/$430million). Huaxi also has helicopter taxis, a theme park and rows upon rows of luxurious villas. There is also a museum, resembling China's top-notch Palace Museum, containing 800 ancient relics.

In 2003, the village announced that its yearly economic volume had reached 100 billion yuan (£11.7 billion/$14.4billion), according to Economic Strategies and Practice of Modern China.

Interestingly, there are only 2000 residents in Huaxi who claim to have more than one million yuan (£116,000/$143,000) in the bank; and each family is given a car and a villa by the authority once they move in.

However, the residents lose all the belonging once they leave the village. The village recently celebrated its 55th anniversary.
