It's going to be the fight of the decade. Two of the strongest men in the world will come head to head in the boxing ring for a night of sporting aggression and passion, the likes of which has never been seen before thanks to Core Sports.
The Core Sports seven-figure contacts have been signed and a date has been set, Hafthor "The Mountain" Bjornsson (3 x Arnold Strongman Classic, 2018 World's Ultimate Strongman and 2019 World's Strongest Man winner) will be fighting Eddie "The Beast" Hall (2017 World's Strongest Man and 5 x Britain's Strongest Man and 6 x UK's Strongest Man) September 2021 in Las Vegas, according to a press release.
Following his world record-breaking deadlift on May 2, Bjornsson called out his long-time rival and previous record holder, Hall, to settle their dispute in the boxing ring live on air. Responding via social media, Hall stated with certainty he was signing the papers and would knock the Icelandic mountain out. Their rivalry has been going on since 2017 and had recently hit critical mass leading up to the deadlift
The fight announcement went viral on Monday night, with hundreds of sporting legends, influencers, celebrities, sports commentators, photographers and boxing organisations either posting their excitement or getting in touch to be involved in the pending clash.
In a statement, CoreSports CEO, Don Idrees, said: "The public response has been overwhelming. We are all excited to see what happens when two of the strongest, most dedicated athletes on the planet cross over to a different sport, train professionally and put their heart and soul into a new endeavor. Honestly speaking, this will be a spectacle and inspiring story to be talked about for years to come regardless of who wins. I know those two very well and neither of them will put in less than 200%"
For the next 16 months, the world will be watching Hall and Bjornsson on their boxing journey as they become fighting fit to take the title and become the undisputed hero.
Announcements regarding pay per view and ticket packages will be coming soon.
