Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi married Ansha Afridi on February 3 of this year. The nikah (religious ceremony for a Muslim couple to be legally wed) was a low-key affair. Now, the couple is set to host grand ceremonies after the conclusion of the ongoing Asia Cup.
Shaheen and Ansha's February wedding was conducted as per Afridi tribal traditions. Not many were aware of the nikah, with only a select few in the know. Confirmation came in July, as the fast bowler shared photos of the special occasion on social media platforms. Ansha's father, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, also shared images from the occasion.
In contrast to the previous close-knit celebration, this time, the couple is eager to share this joy with friends and loved ones in a lavish ceremony later this month.
According to the widely circulated wedding invitation on social media, Shaheen is scheduled to bring his bride home on September 19. Their wedding ceremony is said to take place in Karachi, with a Walima reception planned in Islamabad on September 21.
The card reads: “You are cordially invited to attend the wedding ceremony of Ansha Afridi, d/o Mr & Mrs Shahid Khan Afridi, with Shaheen Shah Afridi, s/o Mr & Mrs Muhammad Ayaz – Tuesday 19th Sept 2023."
After the ceremony the Pakistani paceman will be flying to India to take part in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The tournament starts on October 5 with the first match between New Zealand and England. Pakistan play their first match vs Netherlands on October 6 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
