Top Egyptian squash players are backing their country and their star Mohamed Salah to shine at the World Cup in Russia.
Mo Salah has had a phenomenal season with Liverpool and is almost certain to start the Pharoahs' opening fixture against Uruguay on Friday, after recovering from a shoulder injury.
Men's world No.1 Mohamed El Shorbagy is a close friend of Salah and urged fans to be behind the team, through thick and thin.
"Salah is my friend. Of course, I will support him. I'm sure everyone will support Egypt," said El Shorbagy.
"I hope there will always be positive comments whatever we do there because they have already done well to get there. In sport, you have good days and bad days and you have to back them also during the bad days and not just the good days.
"I haven't spoken to him but I'm sure he will be back in time for the World Cup," added El Shorbagy, who first met Salah in Dubai during the PSA Dubai World Series Finals, two years ago.
Meannwhile, women's world No.1 and No.2 Nour El Sherbini and Raneem El Welily have travelled to Russia to support their country.
"All the Egyptians are united around him. He's a very, very big icon in Egypt. I'm actually proud that we have such a good role model for all the young ones back home. We are definitely supporting him and we love him," said Raneem.
