The coming of 'big time' cricket to Pakistan seems to have caught up with fancy of Lahore residents in a big way. Despite a water-tight security that involved 10,000 security personnel fans poured around Gaddafi Stadium located in the eastern parts of the city.
Since morning fans queued up near the Liberty Market  gate of the stadium in Nissan Sports Complex but were denied entry until 2pm by the security that included Rangers. The media was also not spared and had to wait in the outer periphery of the stadium.

Despite an unprecedented security measures, the  Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made proper arrangements. Fans were dropped at the gate via a shuttle service as fans had to park their cars miles away from the venue due to security measures.

The fans were disciplined and followed instructions from police, which cooperated with the large number of spectators. The roads close to the stadium wore a deserted look with uniformed security men conspicuous by their presence. It was mandatory for everyone to cary their national identification papers as  police and paramilitary forces checked each and every person in the vicinity. There are about eight entry points and by 4pm (Pakistan Standard time) the stadium began to get filled for a match scheduled for 8pm (PST).
Until now it looks the PSL chairman's promises are being fulfilled. Some foreign players from South Africa, West Indies and Zimbabwe have reached Lahore and may figure in final.
