Samba Boys put on a show
German goal machine Gerd Mueller may have finished the tournament in Mexico as the top scorer with 10 goals, but it was the graceful attacking game of the star-studded Brazil team that made the romantics drool.
There was something magical about that Brazil team. Barring one game in which they struggled to find their top form against the watertight defence of the Bobby Moore-inspired England, Brazil put on a breathtaking goal-scoring show.
The World Cup has seen several great teams, but no team has ever come close to matching this Brazilian team's Mexican feat.
They scored goals for fun and their best came in the 4-1 final win over Italy.
Captain Carlos Alberto scored from inside the box after a delightful exchange of passes between eight Brazilian players.
Of course, the final pass for that goal came from their greatest player, Pele, whose vision allowed Alberto to find the back of the net with a powerful right-footer.

Marvellous Magyars: Forgotten Heroes

Kids today can't stop worshipping the Ronaldos and the Messis. While they respect Pele and Maradona, they probably have never heard of the Marvellous Magyars.
The Hungarian national team of the 1950s were so good that they feature on every football pundit's list of the greatest teams ever to have played the beautiful game.
Few teams apparently played the game as beautifully as them and no team has ever destroyed world-class opponents as brutally as that star-studded Hungary team did in their pomp.
Their four-year unbeaten run saw them clinch the gold medal at the 1952 Olympics.
With Ferenc Puskás, their best player, at his magical best, Hungary entered the 1954 World Cup as the overwhelming favourites.
A thumping 8-3 win over the West Germans in the group stage proved their unbelievable quality. But they couldn't win the coveted trophy as the Germans shocked them (3-2) in the final in Berne, Switzerland. That final is still remembered in Germany as the 'Miracle of Berne'.
