There was more success for the ruling family of Dubai when Shaikh Mohammed's Godolphin blue silks finished one-two in the six furlong £75,000 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes Group 2 for two year olds.

A pall of gloom descended on the Dubai Duty Free International Weekend of horseracing at Newbury after the news of the unexpected death of Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, eldest son of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
It was therefore appropriate that the first race on the Newbury card was won by Tabarrak carrying the colours of a member of the family, Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

First colours (the blue cap) were carried by Ribchester who became the only maiden to win this prestigious race.
