If this were to be his last race, he couldn't have scripted any better. Blue Point didn't have a point to prove to anyone after a successful defence of the King's Stand Stakes to make it three Group 1 winners and four race wins on the roll.
But just five days out after that defence at Royal Ascot, the five-year-old son of the blue-blooded Shamardal, returned on the final day of the meeting to clinch the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes, the highlight of the races, at the racecourse in Berkshire.
In doing so, Blue Point, the best sprinter in Europe - the 'Usain Bolt' of horse racing, waltzed into the history books to become only the second horse since 2003 to win two races at Royal Ascot.
The previous horse to do so was the Australian thoroughbred Choisir who won the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes and the King's Stand Stakes.
It is not known what the future really holds for Blue Point but after completing a unique and rare double for the royal blue silks of Godolphin, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who owns the racing operation, indicated that the top sprinter will enjoy retirement as he will be put to stud.
"He's a very good horse and he won the very first day of the race meeting," Sheikh Mohammed told ITV Racing.
"We thought of bringing him back (for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes) as we wanted to see him," he added.
Sheikh Mohammed said that bringing him back in the space of five days, was an easy decision to make.
"For me, very easy. We just wanted to see him because he's going to stud. So, we wanted to see him again. I think what he has done is marvelous. He gave us a lot of pleasure," he said.
Blue Point's handler Englishman Charlie Appleby too hinted that Blue Point will go to stud. "We will let the dust settle but I'm not sure what there us left to do," Appleby told reporters.
Meanwhile, Godolphin had another win on the day with Pinatubo landing the Chesham Stakes, with the juvenile course record to boot.
Pinatubo won by three lengths with a time of 1:25.73s, putting the previous best for two-year-olds to shade by
Jockey James Doyle missed out on a second consecutive win by a whisker, with Space Blues being edged by a head by Daniel Tudhope's Space Traveller, in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes.
Masar, making his first appearance after winning the Epsom Derby, finished fifth in the Hardwicke Stakes. Defoe, owned by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, won the Group 2 affair.
Meanwhile, Frankie Dettori, with seven winners, won the top jockey prize for the sixth time and for the first time in 15 years.
