UAE's women's cricket team off-spinner and skipper Humaira Tasneem produced a superb six-wicket haul in the first ever nine-day UAE International Women's T20 Tournament to help the team score a six-run victory against Kenya at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
It was the second successive victory for the UAE after defeating Malaysia by six wickets on the opening day of the tournament at Ajman Eden ground on Wednesday.
UAE were restricted to 111-6 with Natasha Michael (27) and Roopa Nagraj (25) being the chief contributors. Natasha hit four boundaries during her 33 ball knock before being run out. Roopa Nagraj too chipped in with 25 runs. Then Tasneem used her fine line and length with variations to shatter Kenya' batting line-up as they lost their last wicket on the last ball of the match at the score of 105.
In other matches, Malaysia scored a thumping nine-wicket victory against Qatar while Kuwait registered a 10-wicket win over Oman. Winifred Duraisingam was the top wicket-taker with three wickets as Qatar were bowled out for 52 and then Christina Baret powered Malaysia's chase with a fluent 31 as they raced to victory in 7.3 overs.
After Oman were restricted to 87-7, Kuwait openers Priyada Murli (28 not out) and Maryam Omar (39 not out) fired the required runs in 7.1 overs to give the team an easy win.
