England's limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan expects to experiment with his T20 squad over the next five days as they look to make the most of very "crucial" and "valuable" preparation ahead of next year's World Cup in India.
The tourists will carry the confidence and momentum of a 3-1 victory in the recent one-day international series into this best-to-three T20 tussle, which begins here this evening (Thursday) and concludes in Sharjah on Monday night.
However, rather than stick with a settled side from the 50-over format, Morgan intends to shuffle his pack and utilise almost everybody at his disposal in a bid to discover the strength of the playing personnel.
"It's going to be a bit of a balance throughout the series," the Middlesex batsman explained. "This is an opportunity to see guys who we haven't seen a lot of before, so we'll potentially see the majority of the squad playing.
"This is a really good time for us to grow as a squad and build some experience for guys who haven't played and others that are still to make a significant impact in T20 international cricket and stake their claims for the (World Cup) squad."
Morgan has been aided by relative continuity in terms of the selection of his ODI and T20 squads, with very few - if any - changes across the two formats.
It is absolutely imperative that continues too as the 29-year-old left-hander looks to build upon their excellent evolution of late and maximise the potential he inherently feels there is within this group.
"Our progress since the start of the summer has been outstanding," he commented. "We continue to push our boundaries - and the opposition - at every stage of the game.
"We've never taken a backward or negative step since we've come together as a squad and, as long as that continues and we're really honest with ourselves and we learn along the way, it will hold us in good stead for the T20 World Cup.
Morgan added: "Our strategy is quite simple; it's to continue to test ourselves and our abilities regardless of the situation we're in.
"That's the best strategy because we're trying to test our capabilities as players and we don't know what our boundaries are, so it's important for us to keep pushing them as far as we can.
"I am really excited and I think we've a lot more to offer. It's something that everybody in the team is looking forward to and I am too."
