Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Shakhbut Al Nahyan, board chairman of E-Sports Association said that the UAE has abundance of young talents to represent the country at the regional and world stage.
Sheikh Sultan was speaking during a ceremony to honour the winners of E-Sports tournament, a qualifying event for the World Cup tournament scheduled to be held in South Korea at the end of the year.
Sulaiman Hamad emerged winner while Ali Mourad Al Baloushi came in second. Fahad Abdul Rahman had to settle for the third place. In Tekken 7, Sultan Rashid Al Tahery was the winner, while Mohammed Essa Al Mulla, and Jaber Ahmed Al Jabery finished second and third respectively.
Sheikh Sultan praised the efforts of the organising committee, which aims at developing E-Sports in the country and keeping pace with regional and global developments while maintaining its main role in raising social awareness about protecting youth from the possible dangers in such sports.
Sheikh Sultan said: "The UAE tournament in E-Sports is a first step in many other upcoming ones the association is willing to organise".
He called on all association members to keep providing their outstanding efforts, which will lead to developing the E-Sports.
