The Wave, Muscat built a small but impressive lead at the Extreme Sailing Series Sydney with another display of unbending consistency while Oman Air fought hard to stay in the mix for a final podium place, according to a Press release.
After two days of strong winds, a slight easing in conditions across Sydney Harbour gave skipper Leigh McMillan and his crew an opportunity to steal a march on rivals in their bid to seal a record-breaking third Extreme Sailing Series championship title.
By the end of eight hard fought and tight races, they had posted six podium places including a win in the penultimate race, their fourth of the event, to create a three-point advantage over second placed SAP Extreme Sailing Team with one day's racing left.
Sunday marks the final day of Extreme 40 racing for McMillan who is set to join the British America's Cup team LandRover BAR in January.
