On the eve of the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup final, Oman coach Peter Tim Verbeek has fired a salvo. Verbeek was assistant manager of the UAE in 2005 and on Thursday, the Dutchman gave a cold warning.
"The UAE, we know them. It is time to speak about tactics and prepare the team to take the right decisions. We will see in the final what's going on. It will be an exciting game," he said noting that there wasn't any need to motivate his players as they were all ready.
"Players will give everything they have. We are not worried that we have lost the first match (to the UAE). It was by far our best match."
Verbeek said his boys can get the job done. "We have won the last three matches. In the end, it is all about winning. If you want to be famous in football in the Middle East, you have to win the Gulf Cup once in your lifetime. And that's what my players are going to do."
The coach is confident and seemed clear in his head as to what sort of approach can let Oman grab a second Cup. And his boys too have said they will give everything as hundreds are reaching Kuwait from Oman by land and air. "We will not disappoint them," said Salim Al Ruzaiqi said.
