India's electronics, telecom and IT exports to global markets will continue to grow significantly, thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's business-friendly policies.
This was stated by Kamal Vachani, Hon. Regional Director of Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) on the occasion of India's 74th Independence Day.
Between 2017-18 and 2018-19, India's export of electronic goods increased substantially from Rs41,220 crore to Rs61,908 crore. ESC is India's apex trade promotion organisation, which is mandated to promote India's electronics, telecom and IT exports to global markets.
"Our diversification-based strategy continues to evolve, and has resulted in sustained growth and continuous improvement in each of our ICT exports," Vachani said.
He added: "Behind India's prowess in IT, is great intellectual teamwork. They are guided by shared values, focused on working together to build deep, long-term relationships with customers to help them become financially better off."
In the last five years, the Digital India mission and the efforts to boost local electronics manufacturing have been crucial to the Make in India campaign.
In the past five years, the number of smartphone manufacturers in India grew from two to over 60, and the government now seeks to make Indian companies competitive in global markets.
On India's ICT front, despite the ongoing challenges, the exports have continued to show robust buoyancy. Further, the council is continuously striving to accelerate the tempo of exports by organising several export promotion activities.
The development India achieved since Independence is multifarious. Some of them are tangible and others intangible. Spread of literacy, bringing more and more people in the mainstream, building strong democratic institutions, etc., are some of the factors that cannot be measured in quantitative terms; but the impact of these inclusive measures are felt widely. Besides, they are the great pillars, which will unleash a sustainable growth path to India's future development.
ESC has its regional representative in Dubai to service the Middle East Region represented by Vachani. With the help of regional representative, the Council has been organising India's participation in major events like Gitex Technology Week in Dubai and Comex in Oman. ESC members use the services of ESC's Representative in Dubai to enhance their exports to the Middle East region.
Since the inception of regional representation in 1999 headed by Kamal Vachani, the regional office has been very actively promoting the electronics and IT exports from India, and since then, exports to the Middle East, particularly to the UAE, have increased substantially.
