If you're in the process of saving up for new appliances and want to make a wiser investment - here are some tips for choosing refrigerator for a greener home from Hitachi:

1. A refrigerator is a permanent fixture in most homes. Good thing these home appliances now come with energy efficiency ratings (EER), which give an indication of how efficiently the unit uses energy. The higher the EER, the better are your chances of saving on electricity costs, as they are able to achieve maximum impact using fewer resources.

Hitachi refrigerator series is equipped with a combination of two groundbreaking technologies - a compact but high-power inverter compressor alongside dual fan cooling (a dedicated fan for refrigerator and freezer compartment) for optimal cooling minus high-energy consumption. This means that Hitachi's Dual Fan Cooling enables independent cooling of the freezer and refrigerator compartments, unlike a single fan. Using two fans, Dual Fan Cooling also quickens delivery of the cold air provided by powerful inverter operation. It saves energy, is less noisy with less risks of breakdown from overuse, which makes it cost-efficient in the long run.
3. Next to the "inverter" series for higher energy efficiency is Hitachi's Vacuum Insulating Panels (VIP) model. The new series refrigerator comes with thin VIP inside of the side walls to improve heat insulation performance that prevents heat loss, contributes to energy savings, and keeps vegetables and fruits fresh and crisp by maintaining a low temperature inside. VIP's performance is much higher than Urethane, a conventional insulation material for refrigerators.
4. Fresh and crisp vegetables play an important role for a healthy lifestyle. Hitachi's separate compartment with clean technology for storage promises clean air that passes through a Nano Titanium Filter. The Nano Titanium is a cutting-edge technology that uses an advanced TiO2 catalyst to provide a powerful anti-bacterial, anti-mould and deodorising effect, which prevents food degeneration.  It also has a Moisture Guard on the top of the compartment that ensures indirect cooling to maintain moisture levels of approx. 90 per cent high humidity for longer lasting freshness.
5. Flexible food storage for ultimate convenience is hardly an issue with Hitachi's Side-by-Side Refrigerators, which makes food easier to find thanks to neat  and organised storage options.
