Samsung on Monday launched the world’s first largest curved ultra high definition, or UHD, TV at the regional launch in Dubai and said it will provide immersive entertainment experience with new form factor.
With a price tag of Dh24,999 the 65-inch curved UHD TV will be available in stores across the UAE from next month, top officials of Samsung Gulf Electronics told media at the launch.

“At Samsung, we understand that the home entertainment experience is valued highly by our customers across the region,” Vinod Nair, general manager of TVs at Samsung Gulf Electronics, said.
Samsung also launched its 2014 UHD TV line-up across the region and claimed the ground-breaking technology takes viewers one step closer to reality, with its advanced technology and sophisticated design.
“Our new lineup of curved and UHD TVs brings together exceptional design and picture quality, offering an immersive experience like no other,” claimed Nair. The curve enhances the ultra-HD experience, he said. “It makes the screen appear larger than what it is.”
He mentioned that Samsung has tied up with local content providers to offer ultra HD content. He also said that Samsung will make available up to 50 HD titles that customers will be able to watch in ultra-HD quality. Samsung is blending its innovative curved TV design with its UHD TV technology. These TVs deliver a bold theatrical experience and fundamentally change the way the world views TVs, reinforcing Samsung’s leadership and setting the pace for innovation, design and content.
Developed with an optimal curvature of 4200R, Samsung’s curved screens offer a presence not felt on flat screens. Creating a wider field of view with a panoramic effect, the display seem larger than life, ensuring that no matter what your viewing angle, everyone can lay claim to the best seat in the house.
Nair said that providing the best picture quality from a normal watching distance of three to four metres, the combination of the curve and UHD technology creates the ultimate immersive viewing experience, bringing images to life and enveloping viewers in spectacular colour, clarity and detail.
The Samsung curved UHD lineup (U9000) will be available from May onwards across leading retail outlets across the region in 105, 78, 65 and 55 inches. The Samsung UHD lineup (U8500) will be available in 65, 60, 55 and 48 inches.
