A car that fits in your bag. Ahahahahahahaha! Waheeheeheeheehee... ...you can stop now because it's actually real. Japan's Cocoa Motors will make sure that those who went on a laughing hysteria (yours truly included) will shut up because their portable car will finally be hitting the market. The WalkCar is just about the size of a 13-inch laptop - think of it like a MacBook wedged with four wheels - and it perfectly does two things: fit in your bag and transport you when you're too lazy to move your legs and walk: Made of carbon, the "super car" weighs 2.8kg, takes 60 minutes to charge for a similar 60-minute driving time, and has a top speed of 16kmh. Matter of factly, the WalkCar has been in development since 2013. Finally, after three years, pre-orders began for the interesting new piece of gizmo. It'll start shipping in September 2017 and will set you back $1,280 (roughly Dh4,700). The video above shows that the WalkCar is rather easy to use, similar to those scooters we've been seeing today: tilt left or right to turn to that direction, and getting off of it stops it on its tracks - seems like a nice safety feature in the event you'd lose control or prevent yourself from bumping into Marty McFly for some reason. But, sorry, Marty; at least the WalkCar's real. But, who knows... maybe we'll find ourselves laughing again when someone announces they have an actual Hoverboard exactly like the one in Back to the Future - and make us shut up all over again. (Fact: Lexus has one.) - alvin@khaleejtimes.com
