Worried if Skype is working in the UAE? Don't be.
Skype has been found working in the UAE after Khaleej Times independently verified that the app is still accessible within the country. Khaleej Times was able to make calls without any hassle.
Confusion regarding Skype in the UAE started when some residents tweeted that the popular video call application was not working for them. The complaints arise as UAE's Eid Al Fitr celebrations are in full swing and when many residents call up their families to wish them 'Eid Mubarak'.
One of the reasons why Skype might not be working properly is some outages that plagued the app earlier last week. According to TechCrunch, Skype was reeling under connectivity issues for three days with some users unable to log in, make calls, and send or receive messages. However, a group called 'CyberTeam' claimed it to be a hack purported by them.
Skype was also reported as no longer working on certain Windows devices. An email sent out to registered Skype users indicated that the company will be permanently retiring Skype on some platforms.
