Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, or EITC, the holding group of du, announced on Thursday a new operating model designed to digitally future-proof and enhance the telco's ability to adapt to evolving market dynamics.
The revamp, to be implemented in the fourth quarter, involves the introduction of five empowered and versatile functions "to bring in more passion for customers, to be a better partner to the ecosystem, and to create faster digital transformation," the Dubai-based firm said.
The redesign of the telecom's operating model is subsequent to its first-half results a 38 per cent fall in net profit due to a decline in revenues triggered by "movement restrictions, low business activities and a shift in customer behavior due to Covid-19."
The company declared a net profit of Dh570 million for the six-month period, compared to Dh913.3 million in the same period a year ago. Revenue fell 11 per cent to Dh5.66 billion following a drop in mobile revenues as companies implemented work-from-home initiatives and people relied more on fixed line connections.
"Winning in the future requires innovation, speed, efficiency, collaboration, and continuously exceeding our customers' expectations." said Johan Dennelind, EITC's chief executive officer.
"Our new operating model will digitally future-proof EITC, and accelerate our transformation and our ability to adapt to evolving market dynamics."
The new model seeks to deliver deeper and more personalized customer engagement, drive a faster go-to-market approach, and nurture a purpose and performance driven culture, said EITC.
The model in business functions is based on five pillars. The customer-facing functions will be centered on commercial, customer and channels, and new business and innovation. The technology functions will regroup technology and IT, EITC said.
EITC's revamped committee will comprise of Johan Dennelind (CEO); Fahad Al Hassawi (chief commercial officer); Anthony Shiner (chief customer and channels officer); Farid Faraidooni (chief new business and innovation officer); Peter Larnholt (chief information technology officer), and Saleem Alblooshi (chief technology officer) among others.
"To stay relevant to our ever-evolving and demanding customers, we need to reimagine and reinvent how we operate as an organization. Today's announcement is a strong indication of EITC's shift in its mindset towards building a modern organization and a thriving culture to address today's and tomorrow's dynamic business landscape," said Dennelind.
