The move is part of the Abu Dhabi police’s efforts to improve the traffic safety system in order to achieve a sustainable traffic environment and maximum safety degrees on internal and external roads of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Major Muhsen Saeed Al Mansouri, Head of the Traffic and Patrols Division of Al Ain police, affiliated to Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate, clarified that freshly installed radar detectors have been placed at spots known for more vehicular accidents based on traffic accidents and violations indexes.
This step aims to restrain speedsters and cut down on reasons that lead to road fatality, which might cause human and economical losses as well as negative social effects. The maximum speed limit set on the Al Ain-Dubai road is 140km/h.
“Motorists who frequently use the new Al Ain-Dubai freeway better adhere to the set speed limit for their safety and that of others’ too,” Al Mansouri said. Driving recklessly at high speed could pose an imminent threat to road users. It also puts their lives at risk and might cause huge losses to man and properties as well, he pointed out.
