Dubai — Through its 30th Number Plates Auction starting on January 27 and running for three days, the Licensing Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), will offer 300 distinguished licence plates comprising, for the first time, the P code.

Other codes include A, B, I, J, K, L, M, N and O. The new code will suffice the needs of various community segments interested in bidding for licence plates via online auctions. Registration for the auction starts on January 20 and continues till the date of the auction.

Mohammed Abdul Kareem Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing at RTA Licensing Agency, said: “The online auction is the first auction held in 2015. Online auctions have a peculiar nature and special appeal to certain segments of the public who appreciate the prevailing comfortable and transparent atmosphere in the selection of numbers online without going through the hassles of waiting or time-consuming exercises.

“The auction will see the offering of four and five-digit vehicle plates; which will be appealing to the public who can select their ... plates at their own privacy.”

To participate, bidders have to have an account opened through RTA website (www.rta.ae), or use the new link to obtain a new user name and password. Participants should have a vehicle registered in Dubai, or head to one of RTA’s Customers Service Centres in Dubai (Umm Al Ramool, Bur Dubai, Deira, and Al Tawar Municipal Centre) and seek assistance from staff to complete the registration process.

The bidder is required to deposit Dh5,000 as security which is refundable if no successful bid is made.
