Motorists encountered snarls and delays on Sunday morning in various parts of Dubai, thanks to rush-hour commuting.
An accident on Al Khawaneej Road towards Sharjah was reported at 7:30am that caused major congestion, Dubai Police tweeted.

According to Google Maps data, tailbacks were observed on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Dubai from Sharjah.

Traffic crawled on Sheikh Zayed Road's E11 - from Al Wanda Street towards Dubai.
There was a major gridlock on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed road near Khawaneej and Muhaisnah areas.
It would be prudent for motorists to drive safely and take alternative routes wherever they can.
Motorists heading towards Deira are advised to take the new traffic diversion at Rashidiya Interchange.
As reported earlier, Deira-bound traffic on the Airport Road coming from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Khawaneej Road will be diverted to the new flyover.
Rashidiya-bound motorists must use the leftward lanes to take them to the existing signalised junction.

The diversion works are part of the first contract of the Airport Road Improvement Project that would ease the traffic flow on intersections of the area, said Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority.
