The Department of Transport's (DoT) Integrated Transport Centers (ITC) in Abu Dhabi has launched "Hafilat" card services for regional buses in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The DoT said on Tuesday that the "Hafilat" Smart Card services are now available on regional buses.
"Hafilat" users can now purchase new cards or recharge them. Offering this service is part of DoT's endeavor to enhance the public bus service and facilitate its usage and sustainability.
The new service will be applied on buses travelling between different cities in emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The service will facilitate the payment of trip fares in a way that saves users' time, effort and money.
The fare is calculated automatically based on the distance of the passenger's journey from the time he or she boards the bus until his or her destination. Fifty devices were installed in the buses to facilitate payment, according to DoT.
Users should swipe Hafilat cards in the machines installed at the entrance of the buses in a process that will last less than seconds and contribute in reducing the crowd of passengers and queues at the bus entrance.
DoT has recently implemented the Automated Payment System in Al Ain and Al Dhafra region. All areas of Abu Dhabi are now equipped with AFS and the public can use them to recharge their Hafilat cards using card and cash payment in addition to using Darb application.
The service is available 24/7, providing passengers with easy access to rides at any time of day or night
