The waiver announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, is applicable for all tickets issued between August 1, 2016 and December 1, 2017.
The 50 per cent reduction in fines was launched last December in view of the Year of Giving and in the spirit of the UAE National Day.

"Drivers can avail the 50 per cent discount through the Ministry of Interior website or app and at comprehensive police stations and technical check-up station."
Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the RAK Police, said. "The move will reduce financial burdens on all members of the society."
The RAK Police had earlier announced a 55 per cent discount for 32 days on all types of traffic fines to mark the 7th anniversary of the Ascension Day of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of RAK.
Ashraf Ali, a Jordanian resident in Sharjah, said the 50 per cent discount was big news for him. "I was supposed to pay around Dh6,000 in fines for different traffic violations, but only paid Dh3,000."
Omar Salem, an Egyptian resident in Ajman, said he only paid Dh350 instead of Dh700 against a speeding ticket. "This fine reduction did help us, and reduce our financial burdens."
Excited about the discount which brought happiness to him in the country of happiness, Sami Thahi, an Asian resident in RAK, said he availed the 50 per cent discount from the very beginning.
