Abu Dhabi: The Department of Transport, DoT, in Abu Dhabi today announced that its Parking Division, Mawaqif, has provided 274 additional parking bays in sector E4-02, located near Al Raha Hospital between Zayed the First Street from the north, Al Falah Street from the south, Fatima bint Mubarak Street from the east and Sultan bin Zayed the First Street from the west.
Through this increase in the numbers of parking bays, Mawaqif aims to provide long-term solutions for overcrowded parking spaces so that it can maintain a smoother traffic flow in the area.
Mohammed Hamad bin Fahd Al Muhairi, General Manager of Parking Division at the DoT, said, “The division has increased the number of parking bays available in Al Danah area from 353 parking bays, to 627, an increase of 77%, including 7 parking bays for special needs. This significant increase is meant to avoid congestion in this area and to grant its residents and visitors more convenience”.
Al Muhairi added that that all illegally parked vehicles in the area will be subject to the law, noting that parking next to yellow and grey curbstones and in the middle of the road is strictly prohibited, as is double parking. Illegal parking also includes parking vehicles on pedestrian walkways, across access points and fire hydrants.
