Al Tayer said these projects had contributed to saving about Dh60 billion in time and fuel.

Dubai Airport Road widening work will be worth Dh1.5 billion and is likely to be completed by 2017 as Dubai Airports traffic soars from 60 million flyers to 93 million flyers annually by 2020.

Al Quds Street will get a facelift and a new passageway will link Dubai Airport Street to Al Rabat Street. Al Khail First Road and Al Asayel Street will have additional subways to the Business Bay Crossing and Burj Khalifa.

Plans shown to Shaikh Mohammed connect Al Khail Road and Ras Al Khor Road to the flyover leading to Jumeirah to alleviate traffic pressure near the Dubai World Financial Centre Road.

The focus is on public transport particularly near the Deira market and the crowded market in Bur Dubai. It envisages more space for pedestrians in these busy business zones and in Zabeel, Dubai International Centre, Business Bay project, Burj Khalifa and the Dubai World Trade Center areas.
