Dubai: The Marine Transport Department of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a new tourist route for the Dubai Ferry from Al Mamzar Marine Transport Station on Thursdays and Fridays.
Hussein Khansaheb, Director of Marine Transport, said, “The Public Transport Agency is operating scheduled tours for the Dubai Ferry at both Dubai Marina and Ghubaiba stations. At the behest of the Dubai Ferry commuters, we have decided to expand the scope of marine services and access new destinations by operating a new tourist trip ... in Al Mamzar area.
“The new tourist route of the Dubai Ferry, which was launched on October 1, was tentatively operated during weekends (Thursdays and Fridays), with an average of one trip per day at 4.30pm. The trip, which lasts for an hour, costs Dh75 for the Gold Class whereas the Silver Class costs Dh50,” said Khansaheb.
Fares remain unchanged.
The Dubai Ferry is the latest and largest RTA marine transit mode in Dubai, with four boats currently in operation and an additional one that will be added at Ghubaiba station. The ferry, which is an express means of transport to access new areas, serves Dubai Creek, and the coastline stretching along Jumeirah beaches, in addition to Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence, waterfront projects, and Al Mamzar area.
The ferry, which has a capacity of 100 passengers, extends 32 metres in length and eight metres in width, with a speed of 24 knots per hour.
