The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Sharjah, on the occasion of Commemoration Day, has opened 147 new parking spots at the Martyr Ghanem Al Muhairi mosque, Al Noof -3 area.
The new parking spaces, worth Dh1.6 million, will further facilitate worshippers at the major mosque there, according to Eng. Yusuf Saleh Al Suwaihi, RTA Sharjah Chairman.
The parking project, aimed to provide convenience to worshippers, is in line with the directions of His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, he added.
RTA Sharjah has also built a number of internal roads, which are 310m in length, along with the necessary services, he added.
"The (cost of) parking spaces and roads stood at Dh1.6 million."
The new parking spaces will boost traffic flow, and put an end to congestions at the mosque, he underlined.
"Such crowded and haphazard way of parking harmed the image of the city."
The project is the least they could do to to show respect to the late martyrs, Al Suwaihi said, supplicating Almighty Allah to rest their souls in eternal peace, and keep the country safe, secure, stable, and prosperous.
Commenting on customer service, he said that RTA Sharjah is always ready to respond to customers' feedbacks and complaints.
"RTA Sharjah Call Centre is reachable 24/7 at 600525252 for feedbacks, inquiries, remarks and complaints."
RTA Sharjah marked the third edition of the auspicious occasion at the Authority headquarters in Al Azra area where the UAE flag was lowered to half-mast from 8am to 11.31am in mourning to pay tribute to the late martyrs.
