The Dubai Police on Monday launched new radars specialised to record road shoulder violations. The General Department of Traffic launched the new radar at the Dubai Police pavilion at Gitex 2016.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said that the new radar is so efficient and accurate that it could shoot a clear picture of the violating vehicle from front and back sides.
A video of the vehicle will also be recorded within 10 seconds when the driver enters the prohibited area. Brigadier Al Mazroui said that the new radar had been manufactured exclusively to monitor and catch road shoulder violations.
He added that the road shoulder violations could result in serious accidents as vehicles driving through road shoulders could crash into other vehicles parked in this area, which is specialised for police, ambulance and for emergency.
The radar will keep all the information in its CPU and also has special programme to determine prohibited areas. It is a very light and small equipment and can be moved from one place to another easily. Brig. Al Mazroui said the new radar could be used either as a mobile system by using batteries or be placed in special boxes and use electricity or solar power.
