Abu Dhabi - The fine for illegal parking in residential areas is reduced from Dh500 to Dh200.

Mawaqif tickets for parking violations have been heavily reduced in Abu Dhabi, the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport's (DMAT) Integrated Transport Center announced on Saturday.
Mohammed Hamad Al Muhairi, Mawaqif Director, stated that illegal parking in residential areas tickets has been reduced from Dh500 to Dh200. In addition, cars will only be towed four hours after issuing the ticket.
Fines for illegal parking in buses and taxi parking bays is reduced to Dh500 from Dh1000, and the fine for occupying two parking spaces is now Dh200, from the earlier Dh300. Moreover, using a ticket or permit not specified for parking area is reduced from Dh200 to Dh100.
Al Muhairi stated that there are two new parking violations; one is for using fake permits or tickets, which will cost Dh10,000. The second violation ticket is Dh1,000 for those who avoid payment of their previous tickets.
A number of parking violation fines remained the same, including illegal parking in front of a fire inlet or in a space designated for special needs without an appropriate permit; cars are to be towed if parked in spaces for more than three days.
Mawaqif requested the drivers to comply with the rules of parking in the emirate to avoid violations.
