The gesture is to boost solidarity with staff drivers and enhance their loyalty and dedication for the good of the public, according to a senior official.

“The Iftar is one of the annual functions the corporation holds to develop partnership between public and private institutions in the country,” said Saeed Abdullah, Head of Corporate Communication at Sharjah Transport.

On the occasion, a preacher gave a brief lecture in Urdu on the virtue of the holy month of Ramadan, and how to best use it to be closer to Almighty Allah. “As drivers we all need to respect road users, behave well with the public, be honest, and adhere to good manners to curb crimes,” he said, adding that drivers need to abide by traffic rules and regulations, and be more cautious, particularly before the fast breaking time.

Sharjah Transport is running a crew of 127 MCV and King Long public buses as well as 4,396 taxis, 1,099 operated by each of the four franchise companies, and driven by 12,064 drivers.

“The Customer Service Centre is ready to receive public complaints, suggestions and comments on service round the clock at toll free (700067000),” Abdullah said, noting that Sharjah Transport pays much attention to regular service and cleanliness.

All bus schedules are available on Sharjah Transport website www.mowasalat.ae, he added.
