As many as 12 different projects worth Dh1.43billion will be carried out across the country by the ministry of infrastructure development.
These include five major roads that connect different parts of the emirate. It will increase the federal roads across the UAE to 3,600km, according to Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, minister of infrastructure development.
"The ministry is also constructing different buildings, four for the ministry of interior, two for the ministry of justice, and one for the ministry of culture and knowledge development."
The roads being built include the road that connects the Sheikh Khalifa road in Fujairah with the Khatm Melaha Centre and road E99, as well as the Hamad bin Abdullah road also in Fujairah, the Badea Bridge intersection in Sharjah, the Emirates road extension (Suhaila-Shamal), and the Etihad road (E11), he explained.
"The 4.4-km Sheikh Khalifa road in Fujairah stands at Dh120 million and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year while the Hamad bin Abdullah road, worth Dh 250 million, is to be finished by the first quarter of 2020."
The Badea Bridge intersection, costing Dh200 million, comprises three parts and will boost traffic flow between Dubai and Sharjah, he said. "This project is to be completed by the end of this year."
The Emirates road extension is to be finished by the fourth quarter of this year for Dh69 million, Dr Nuaimi elaborated. "The key project is part of the Ras Al Khaimah ring road."
The ministry has recently started developing the Etihad road (E11), he disclosed. "The project, worth Dh10 million is to be completed in the third quarter of this year."
The ministry is further constructing a new building for the special security forces at the Seeh Al Mahab - Al Dhaid area in the emirate of Sharjah. "The project, worth Dh69 million, is to be wrapped up in the third quarter of 2018."
An all-new building for the immigration department in Umm Al Quwain is also being built. "The project, worth Dh57 million, is to be finished by the fourth quarter of 2018."
The ministry is building two courts in Khor Fakkan and Masfut as well, the minister revealed. "The first, worth Dh45 million, is to be ready by the third quarter of 2018 while the second, worth Dh17 million, is to be completed over the same time."
The ministry is also building a cultural centre in Fujairah which will cost Dh51 million and two police stations in Al Dhaid and Al Daqdaqa areas. "The Dhaid police station, to be ready will cost Dh97 million and the Dh51-million Daqdaqa police station will be completed by the end of the fourth quarter of 2017."
