The Sharjah Police have cancelled registration licence of 4,000 vehicles which were not renewed for five years. The police also withdrew their numbers and announced that these numbers will be provided to others.
Major Mohammed Al Mahrizi, Director of Vehicle Licensing Department at Sharjah Traffic Police, said that after reviewing the records, the police have removed the registration licence of 4,000 vehicles from the system, whose owners failed to renew it for at least five years.
"We first started with cars, of which, owners have no financial obligation with banks. The next will be those vehicles which still have pending loans and fines and those will be attached to the driving licence of the owner.
He added that the action aimed at ensuring safety and security on the streets and minimising accidents caused by cars which have not been annually inspected.
Failure to renew the vehicle registration and skipping annual inspection would make it unsafe for the passengers and other motorists in the road.
He urged motorists to renew their registration to ensure validity and safety of their cars, and to avoid tough actions.
