The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has re-launched an upgraded version of its website (www.rta.ae) with a facility to enable visually-impaired surfers to use it.
The site was re-launched by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, on Wednesday. The home page as well as the most frequently used pages of the website were redesigned in the light of a comprehensive study that addressed the needs of customers.
"The new website has been restructured and services in main menu have been reclassified as per customer categories namely: Drivers and Vehicles, Public Transport Users, and the Business Sector. Reviews, comments and suggestions of surfers have been attended to, and the new version includes a feature enabling visually-impaired users to surf the website and review contents smoothly, regardless of the degree of their impairment," said Al Tayer.
Launching the disabled feature echoes the RTA's keenness to reach out to various community segments, especially the disabled, considering them an integral component of the social fabric.
"The RTA has also redesigned the service directory with a view to making it compatible with the standards of usability, design and accessibility. It has also upgraded the search engine to streamline the use and access to additional information, and activate the feature of search per the most frequent terms used by visitors.
