Sharjah-Ajman bridge to be closed for maintenance works

Sharjah - "Road users are advised to use side or alternative roads during the maintenance works so as to reach their destinations as early as possible."

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is to partially close down the Arabian Gulf Bridge for regular maintenance works.  
The move is part of the RTA's strategy to boost the operational performance of all the bridges in the emirate in line with the ongoing urban, industrial and commercial expansions, according informed sources.  
"The arterial bridge is to be partially shut down for 21 days, starting from September 28."  
All maintenance works are to be carried out from 12 midnight to 5am, they added.
"The bridge is to be blocked for those driving from the Uruba road in the direction of the Sharq road."  
The major bridge connects the downtown of both the emirates of Sharjah and Ajman, and hence the maintenance works are only to be done late at night off peak hours, the same sources pointed out.  
"Only one lane is to be closed down for those heading from the Uruba road in the direction of Ajman during the maintenance works ahead of the bridge."  
The roundabouts and service roads adjacent to the bridge will not be affected by the maintenance works, they underlined.
"Road users are also advised to use side or alternative roads during the maintenance works so as to reach their destinations as early as possible."  
Drivers are also urged to be attentive on the road, reduce speed, and observe traffic rules and regulations, they said.  
The regular maintenance works for the roads, bridges and subways of the emirate are on all the yearlong to enhance public safety and security in line with the directions of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, they affirmed.  
"RTA Sharjah has initiated some emergency maintenance works, spanning the construction of some speed humps, holes, ups and downs in a number of roads in the emirate. We have further widened some entrances and exits of several roads here to boost traffic flow."  
The RTA Sharjah spares no effort to enhance all road and bridges networks across the emirate.
